Bambu beach house, Lagos, is a stunning display of modern beachfront architecture along the picturesque coastline of Ilashe. Designed by Studio Contra, this 6-bedroom modern beach house flawlessly integrates contemporary aesthetics and sustainable design principles.
Bambu enjoys a prime location, perched on the shores of Ilashe, offering breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean. The architects thoughtfully oriented the building to the south, maximizing its exposure to the ocean while utilizing extensive overhangs and deep verandahs to provide shade and protection from the sun.
The architectural style of the beach house can be described as modern and minimal. Its clean lines and simple form create an elegant and timeless beach house. The material palette is refreshingly simple, showcasing the beauty of natural materials. The concrete walls were grooved to add texture and depth to the façade of the modern beach house.
Inside, Bambu exudes an airy vibe with pops of nature-inspired colors. The interior design reflects the beachfront location, creating a serene and welcoming atmosphere for residents and guests alike.
The color scheme is elegantly limited to white, black, and wood, creating a harmonious blend of coastal serenity. The exterior is predominantly white, providing a striking contrast against the deep blue of the ocean. The black mullions of the windows and timber screen on the balcony add character to the façade.
One of the standout features of this modern beach design is its commitment to sustainability. Large operable windows were used to allow for natural ventilation and stunning ocean views. In addition, verandahs adorned with planting, protect the interiors from direct heat and sunlight. This sustainable design approach enhances comfort while reducing energy consumption.
The character and style of the modern beach house design is carried through to the design of the outdoor space. The pool area stands in between the beach shore and the beach house. It includes an adequately sized swimming pool with a pool house and a pool deck that extends towards the water, mimicking a lakeshore experience. This outdoor area adds to the scenery experienced through scenic windows from inside the house.
The inspiration behind this modern beach house design is evident in its integration of green elements. The landscape design seamlessly incorporates trees and vegetation while maintaining the sandy features of the beach, creating a tranquil and lush atmosphere.
