South-African architecture studio, JVR Architects designed this barn-style home to highlight views within and outside the house. Described as a stunning sensory overload by a follower on Instagram, this home has proven to be a visually interactive experience for its owners.
A barn-style home typically refers to a residential structure designed or styled to resemble a traditional barn. This one just like most, features high ceilings, exposed beams, an open floor plan, large scenic doors and windows and has an exterior siding reminiscent of a barn. It evokes a rustic or rural aesthetic while still providing modern amenities and comforts.
The home was photographed by South-African photographer, Sarah De Pina, who captured the interior and exterior beautifully. When sharing the project on Instagram, she mentioned the design being a visual delight.
I absolutely love it when I get to photograph a home that is filled with different layers, with views from every angle I point my camera and this was definitely one of those homes.

I had a hard time selecting the images for the post 😆
One noteworthy feature for us in this barn-style home is the art gallery wall at the entrance hall. Through large sliding doors and a dwarf grey bench, you experience the lawned courtyard. On the other side of this bench is a gallery wall featuring four vibrant large-size figure paintings evenly spread out and highlighted by track lights.
JVR architects made sure that through every space within this barn-style home, there’s an interesting view to be experienced. Layered textures, large windows, deep bold colours, outdoor seating areas and an intentional infusion of planting – all of these came together to make this award-winning project, a visual retreat.
