A child’s mind is a boundless realm of imagination and curiosity, where creativity knows no bounds. It is in this imaginative space that the whimsical and playful bedroom designed by ISD Studio will hold a special place.
ISD Studio, a Lagos-based Architectural Design firm has designed a kid’s bedroom that they’ve described as a paradise inspired by nature. Their description could not have been more apt as images of the design efficiently mirror their intentions. The color palette reflects earthy tones and shades of green. This combination creates a magical and whimsical environment that invites children to explore their imagination in a natural and enchanting setting.
A remarkable feature of this children’s bedroom is the functionality of the spatial arrangement. The sleeping area was designed such that the headboards of each twin single bed were to a windowless wall and each had bed benches that double as storage. To encourage a sense of community and sharing, the designer thoughtfully placed a minimally decorated dresser in between both beds as common storage. This layout largely contributes to a positive and developmentally supportive sleeping arrangement.
The architect’s sylvan intentions are vividly underscored through the captivating interplay of materials and textures in the design. The floor finish, throw pillows, and bed bench exude an earthy essence through their color and tactile qualities. Meanwhile, the subtle blues and shades of green in the headboard and curtain evoke the presence of water and nature, while the whimsical bunny artwork on the wall, adorned in orange, represents the element of fire.
