The African Futures Institute has announced Lesley Lokko’s appointment as Ambassador for the upcoming World Design Congress London 2025.
The theme for the World Design Congress London 2025, ‘Design for the Planet’, focuses on harnessing design’s power to drive sustainable change. The event will be championed by Lokko alongside other design luminaries, including Tom Dixon, Es Devlin, Foday Dumbuya, and Suhair Khan. This biennial event will bring together global design leaders showcasing well-designed ‘modern’ products from 22 countries.
This time round, our understanding of the world has expanded dramatically, reflected in the choice of ambassadors and the networks of talent they bring.
– World Design Organization
According to the organizers, World Design Organization and Design Council, the five lead ambassadors will each nominate four trailblazers to form a ‘25 for 25’ cohort of designers representing talent at the forefront of sustainable design.
The ambassadors and the ’25 for 25′ nominees, to be announced in January 2025, will work with next-gen materials, reshape educational and creative skills models, and democratize design through new technologies.
