DotDWG Studio, an emerging Accra-based design firm with afro-modernist outlook, shared an update of their ongoing storey-high residential building project in Kumasi, Ghana.
According to the architects, their aim was to create a space that blends seamlessly with its surroundings while offering modern, functional living spaces. One interesting feature of this residential building project in Kumasi, is its angled vertical apertures.
A fun interior shot showing dotDWG’s team reveals floor to ceiling high fin walls arrayed side-by-side to create striking vertical apertures. Visually, the apertures create an experience of continuity. They articulate the frame of the building giving it a taller appearance.
Functionally, they create a visual connection of the interior and outdoor area in arrays, while letting in sufficient light and air into the space. This is in line with their goal to create modern and functional living spaces.
Overall, the blend of vertical apertures, contrasting colours and lush landscape in the rendered image visually captures the humbling-yet-homey appearance the residential building will have when completed. We look forward to the seeing it completed.
