Last updated:

Piegatto is a Guatemala-based, family owned company that designs and handcrafts creative and intricate wood furniture as well as art and architecture.

This video by “In the Know Innovation“, details some of their impressive products as well as the processes that go into crafting them. Some of the pieces featured in the video are detailed below, via the company’s official website.

Vic Rocking Chair

Ideal for nurturing a baby, or when you need the hours to pass by, the posture of the vic chair is for complete relaxation. The Vic chair is composed of 29 vertical sections of banak wood (23 mm thickness each) that create a monolithic piece with the posture to rest and rock at the same time. Matt finish with stain and exterior polyurethane coating.

Cobra Chair

Inspired by nature but following the idea of symmetry that is related to our body, the Cobra chair is part sculpture part chair. Creating voids between every piece of wood , light comes part of this piece, creating shadows that reflect the geometry of the chair. It is made with 58 laminated banak wood (4mm thickness each). Matt finish with stain and exterior polyurethane coating.

Tree Chair

The tree chair is similar in style to the cobra chair, also drawing inspiration from nature and the idea of symmetry that is related to our body. It also features voids between the wood structure that play with light and shadow. The Tree Chair is made with 58 laminated banak wood (4mm thickness each). Matt finish with stain and exterior polyurethane coating.

Uma Chair

The form of the Uma Chair evolves from the idea of nurturing, a connection with our beginnings. A simple curve that embraces the body just a little bit, letting one enjoy their stay while sitting. The Uma chair is composed of 27 vertical sections of laminated banak wood (23 mm thickness each) that together embrace the posture of our body. Matt finish with stain and exterior polyurethane coating.
