Imagine an entire room, that you could literally assemble, in minutes without using any tools or Glue, that is Water Resistant, Strong, and also Recyclable/Reusable. Utopian you say?, well not anymore.
Enter – Room in a Box developed after 4 years of research and experimentation by a young group called “Our Paper Life”. Room in a box is, in essence, an entire room’s worth of furniture made of cardboard and flat packed into a box, with the target market being students in temporary housing. Designed to suite their nomadic lifestyle, the items in the box include:
- 1 x Chair
- 1 x Desk
- 1 x Garbage / Recycling Bin
- 1 x Bed (8 x Stax with 4 x Connectors, Mattress not included)
- 1 x Dresser (4 x Stax that can re-configured in an infinite amount of ways)
Every piece of furniture can be assembled with no tools or glue by folding and slotting the pieces, and can be taken down and packed back into the box, all within 30 mins. When you are done with the furniture it can be recycled or reused in its entirety. The company founder is believed to have an assembly record of 9mins, (which is inhuman), but I’m sure if the product is able to reach its current indiegogo campaign goals, students who purchase a room in a box will fight to defeat that time. Brilliant Idea.
