Oda Art Gallery Shares Images from Ongoing Exhibition in Lagos

Oda Art Gallery welcomes art lovers to its ongoing exhibition, AWA, featuring the works of its resident artists, Daniel Olumide and Simon Ojeaga. The exhibition, which began on August 31, will continue until September 28.

In line with its theme, AWA (a Yoruba word for ‘us’), Oda Art Gallery exhibition centers on “youth in Nigeria, delving into various characteristics and personalities found in local communities.”

The theme, AWA, is reflected through the artists’ works.

Daniel Olumide, drawing inspiration from “the life of young people in Lagos,” highlights the emotionally charged personalities of youth in Ambivalence and Steeze.

Simon Ojeaga, in his works Sleight of Hands and Warm Hands, explores human connections, taking viewers on “the journey of self-discovery, identity, and generational dialogue.”

My art reflects a stoic mindset, a blend of duality where one can be a dove and a lion simultaneously. Inspired by Marcus Aurelius, I am to convey peace and turmoil, encouraging individuals to find solace and introspection within my work

Together, the duo creates works that may appear distinct at first glance but, upon closer inspection, share a common theme celebrating commonalities and individual differences among today’s youth.
