Renowned Nigerian architect, Adeyemo Shokunbi, has been named as one of the recipients of the prestigious OBEL AWARD Teaching Fellowship for the year 2023.
This accolade recognizes Shokunbi’s notable contributions to the field of architecture and his dedication to advancing architectural education. The OBEL AWARD Teaching Fellowship program aims to bridge the gap between professional architectural practice and academia.
As part of his fellowship, Adeyemo Shokunbi will be responsible for teaching a course for two semesters titled: “New Alternative Nigerian Architecture: Responsive and Appropriate Contemporary Design for the Tropics” at Yaba College of Technology in Lagos. This course will emphasize critical design thinking, climate responsiveness, and cultural appropriateness within the realm of architecture.
