The Ban Workshop, an independent pottery studio located in Dakar, Senegal, is hosting an engaging event in collaboration with Ban Café. Scheduled for Saturday, February 17th, from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, the occasion offers visitors the chance to appreciate ceramics and homemade delicacies.
In Wolof, Senegal’s predominant language, “Ban” signifies clay, reflecting the studio’s core focus on pottery. The Ban Workshop comprises four members – Imann Gaye, Amadou Samb, Aboubacar Barry, and Sidy Sy – who showcase Senegal’s cultural heritage through their craft.
Adjacent to the pottery studio, Ban Café complements the experience by offering cuisine prepared by Chef Aïda, using locally sourced ingredients. This collaboration merges art and gastronomy, providing visitors with a unique sensory experience.
Translated from French, the Instagram announcement from The Ban Workshop states that they are once again partnering with Ban Café for a day of ceramic sales and homemade treats. They’re also mentioned that the shop will be closed until the 16th of February.
The event aims to showcase the craftsmanship of The Ban Workshop’s members, offering a diverse selection of ceramics for sale with each piece reflecting the skill and dedication of its creators.
