Save the Date to Attend the ArchiAfrika E-Lecture Series 2020

This year, architectural education across the continent has been deeply affected by the coronavirus. In response, ArchiAfrika is reviving its online lecture series to bring content and professional engagement to African architectural students.

The hope is to connect architects and architectural students all over the continent and the world, encouraging research and learning about contextual, culturally aware and sustainable approaches to the development of our built environment. The series will be starting on Wednesday June 17th 2020 and will include the following speakers, on the stipulated dates and times:

Clive Wilkinson

Clive Wilkinson is a South Africa born architect, designer, writer and strategist with particular expertise in the application of urban design thinking to interior design, specifically in workplace and educational communities.

Francis Kéré

Francis Kéré is the founder and principal of Kéré Architecture, with offices in Berlin and Burkina Faso. He is known for his pioneering approach to design which focuses on the usage and development of sustainable locally-sourced materials and modes of construction.

Luyanda Mpahlwa

Dr Luyanda Mpahlwa is a Cape Town based architect, urban designer, activist, and educator. He is also the founder of MMA Architects established in Cape Town in 2000.

Mariam Karama

Mariam Kamara is a founder and principal of atelier masomi, in Niamey Niger, an architecture firm whose interests lie in designing culturally, historically and climatically relevant solutions to spatial problems inherent to the developing world.

James Inedu-George

James Inedu-George’s work focuses on capturing the spirit of African cultures and re-engineering this same spirit into the conceptualization of future (African) megacities. He is Architect and Head of Design Services for HTL Africa, based in Lagos.

Kunle Adeyemi

Kunlé Adeyemi is an architect, designer and development researcher whose works are internationally recognized for innovation and originality. He is the founder and principal of NLÉ – an architecture, design and urbanism practice founded in 2010, for innovating cities and communities.
