In this short video courtesy Mbari Uno (House of Collaboration), Nigerian Architect Tosin Oshinowo, speaks on what drives her design, how invaluable social media is for creative in today’s world, and the importance of documenting design work.
In the first of the “Icon” series, put together by Mbari Uno, which held in July this year, Tosin shared her insights on practical practice and the need to be consistent but also evolve, urging attendees to take advantage of the information age to learn all that they need to, as technology has removed any excuse for ignorance. Tosin has continually flourished in an environment that is fraught with challenges borne out of gender, environmental and socio-economic constraints by staying true to herself, her design philosophy and personal identity.
“The most important thing for me as a designer is soul, your soul must show in your work…”
Tosin Oshinowo
The Icons series is a talk shop that presents emerging designers and enthusiasts with an opportunity to learn from industry experts, the values and impacts of design and how to overcome the challenges that are prevalent in the African Design Industry.
