Ever so often you come across something, whether recent or otherwise, that questions convention and defies trend. This collection from designer Robert Van Embricqs does exactly that. Released sometime back in 2011, the Rising Furniture collection features 4Â pieces of the most creatively, intricately and innovatively designed furniture that I have ever seen. Admittedly, I haven’t seen all the furniture that exists in the world, but if I was to venture a guess, I’d say this is right up there amongst the greats.
The name ‘Rising’ isn’t just for the sake of naming, the collection comprising a stool, chair, side table and table all have a common characteristic of initially appearing as a flat set of wooden slats or beams, then with a simple pull, tug or fold, miraculously become amazing pieces of furniture, that are both practical and beautiful.
