Upscale restaurant and cocktail bar in Lagos, by dhk Designs features a rustic brick wall and vibrant green chairs, creating a welcoming dining atmosphere.

Entering, guests are greeted with interiors of nature, including flowers and plants that create “an eco-friendly invite.” The designers illuminated the steps leading to the entrance with strip lights to add what they described as a “beautiful touch to the exterior.”

They went ahead to portray the artistic nature of Canvas on the interior by displaying its name on a brick wall. According them it was “intentionally crafted in the finest and strongest of wood”. This also contributed to the theme of this nature-inspired lounge design.

The use of several art pieces throughout the upscale restaurant and cocktail bar exhibits well-known creatives and their works. The choice of using warm and dark hues was both functional and experiential. According to the designers “using warm and dark hues on this project really gave it the proposed exquisite look, these colours were chosen to highlight the brand’s identity as well as create a warm cozy and inviting ambience for its guests. From the plush brown furniture to the green marble counter tops at the bar section as well as the tables, balanced well with the warm lights that create the nooks and crannies for an ideal relaxing, working, and socializing space”.

Each floor of Canvas Lounge has a unique design tailored to its function. The ground floor, also the cocktail bar, is in two sections – the bar area and the elongated seating area. In the former, the bartenders get to make their signature cocktails and the guests get to watch the mixologists in action from the bar-side seating. According to the designers, this section features “”convenient fixtures like the well-structured and functional compartments, the shelves to showcase variety drinks and more”.

The elongated section features a long sofa with dining chairs “where guests come in to have a nice meal and laugh over drinks”.

The second floor comprises private dining and meeting/conference rooms where the aesthetic of this nature-inspired lounge design was further expressed. The dining room, is mostly used for celebrations, booked dinners and surprise gatherings, with walls decorated with custom art pieces. The array of wall arts creates the experience of an art gallery in the dining setting.

According to DHK, their team of designers did their best to incorporate what a dining setting looks like by using the 20-seater technique and touching it up with a live edge long island table that is finely crafted from a solid mahogany tree and tropical orange roots, giving it that custom touch but in a modern style. And to enhance the purpose of this room, the installation of a built-in kitchen, that is well fitted and done to the likelihood of the client, was created.
