DHK Designs’ cutting-edge proposal for PwC Nigeria’s new head office in Lagos aims to create a dynamic and inspiring workspace that embodies the company’s corporate identity while enhancing functional efficiency and aesthetic appeal.

According to DHK Designs, they were invited to design PwC Nigeria’s new head office with the objective to “create a workspace that reflects PwC’s vision and values, fostering a dynamic and inspiring environment that meets their operational needs and elevates their brand presence.” To achieve this, the design team tackled the challenge of low headroom in the existing space by introducing an “exposed ceiling concept, revealing structural elements and HVAC systems to enhance vertical space and ventilation.”

The design maximizes flexibility with activity-based environments, allowing employees to choose settings that suit their needs, creating a smart, comfortable, and future-ready workspace.

A core aspect of DHK Designs’ spatial strategy for the proposed building includes transition spaces that are designed to “transcend their traditional role as mere passageways, transforming them into dynamic environments that enhance the overall office experience, fostering both movement and interaction.” With this idea in mind, the team envisions “transition spaces as the arteries of the office, seamlessly integrating different functional zones while promoting fluidity and coherence in movement.”

“These areas are designed to encourage spontaneous interactions and informal meetings, essential for fostering a sense of community and collaboration,” the designers note. To create inviting and stimulating environments that contribute to employee well-being and satisfaction, the designers incorporated natural light, ergonomic seating, and aesthetically pleasing elements such as art and greenery.

The design features open-plan layouts that foster employee performance and satisfaction by encouraging “communication, work areas that adapt to various tasks, and flexible multi-functional workspaces.” Ergonomic furniture and quiet zones for concentration were also integrated into the design to further support productivity.

By harmonizing these interior design features, we create workspaces that empower employees to thrive and excel in their roles.

The building’s enclosed spaces have “flexible spatial layouts, effective acoustic design for clear communication, and smart lighting to enhance visual and spatial comfort,” the designers explain. Meeting rooms, offices, and private enclosed spaces are designed to be dynamic environments that support productive interactions and align with organizational goals.

The multi-use spaces, on the other hand, are designed to be easily configured with “modular furniture and in some cases movable partitions” and “smart storage solutions” that keep the areas organized and clutter-free” to boost productivity and collaboration.

In addition to the aforementioned spaces, utility spaces, including the kitchen, storage rooms, restrooms, and maintenance areas, are designed with operational efficiency, safety, and comfort in mind. The kitchen stands out as a beloved communal area where employees can prepare and enjoy meals, fostering social interaction and offering a break from work routines.

The overall design creates workspaces that empower employees to thrive and excel in their roles, while promoting a dynamic and inspiring environment that reflects PwC Nigeria’s vision and values.
