Mixed-use Development in Cape Town: Experience Cape Station, a Transformative and Vibrant Urban Space

The mixed-use development in Cape Town, known as Cape Station, was designed by Boogertman and Partners. Captured by South African photographer Paris Brummer, this project reimagines the forecourt of Cape Town Station.

It includes 6,700m² of modern retail space, accommodation for 3,085 students, and a world-class public square. Designed to serve students from the nearby Cape Peninsula University of Technology and other institutions, it meets DHET standards and is NSFAS-accredited.

The development transforms Cape Town Station from a transport node to a vibrant urban neighborhood, balancing heritage with modern design. The student housing block, retail space, and public square enhance urban life while respecting the site’s historical context. This project introduces a new civic icon and breathes new life into the Cape Town CBD.
