The student design competition was a highlight of Day 5 at the recently concluded Design Week Lagos 2024, showcasing the creativity and innovation of young designers in Nigeria.
Judged by a distinguished panel including Osaru Alile, Joao Carlos Almeida, AMB (Dr) Taliat Kola-Talent, and Sanya Otuyalo, the competition emphasized the role of design in economic and social development.
Participants competed for top honors, with awards given to the most outstanding entries. The first-place winner received ₦1.5 million, while second and third-place winners were awarded ₦700,000 and ₦300,000, respectively.
This event aligned with the festival’s theme, “The Role of Design in Economic Evolution,” and aimed to encourage emerging designers to contribute to Africa’s design landscape. By fostering young talent, the Student Design Competition Lagos underscored the potential of design to drive progress and enhance the region’s creative economy.
