The HT Apartment is an interior design / renovation project by LandMak Architecture that updates a 3 bedroom apartment on the 11th floor of an old, low income condominium building in Vietnam plagued with poor lighting and ventilation as well as cumbersome space planning.
The renovated 83 sqm apartment caters to a young family of 3 (parents + 1 child) and grandparents. Its previous condition offered 3 equally sized bedrooms, a kitchen with no window for air or daylight and a poorly lit and barely ventilated living room. The architects had to destroy one of the bedrooms located at the center of the apartment to create a larger, brighter and well ventilated open plan living area that would contain the living and dining areas, an open kitchen and a viable terrace.
The new design repositions a few walls and make some adjustments to create a more effcient apartment. It now offers 2 larger bedrooms (one of which is ensuite) and small maid’s room. The open plan living area makes the best use of the limited space allow for a free flow between public and private spaces.
Patterned ceramic tiles are used as a decorative material within the living area flowing from the TV cabinet to the background walls all the while adding a subtle amount of character, thats bold but not jarring.
