In the dynamic Plateau region of Abidjan, the Modern Noom Hotel Abidjan Plateau, designed by SAOTA, redefines the city’s skyline.
This 22-story architectural marvel is more than a luxurious hotel; it’s a homage to Abidjan’s modernist heritage, now reimagined for the present. SAOTA’s reflective design integrates local craftsmanship and global aspirations, showcasing Abidjan’s identity as the “Paris of West Africa.”

Abidjan, often called the ‘Paris of West Africa,’ has long been a canvas for architectural ambition. The city’s modernist heritage, rooted in the optimistic post-independence era, saw the creation of bold, expressive forms—symbols of progress and newfound identity.
– SAOTA
Responding to a complex brief by Teyliom Hospitality, the modern hotel in Abidjan was designed to reflect Noom’s cosmopolitan appeal while remaining deeply rooted in its African identity. SAOTA’s approach addresses the unique challenges of the dense Plateau region by concentrating social spaces on the 7th floor, where guests enjoy panoramic views of the Ébrié Lagoon.
“The solution was to concentrate the hotel’s social functions on the 7th floor, where the building’s guests are treated to sweeping views of the lagoon,” SAOTA notes. These spaces include dining areas, a terrace, and a pool, creating an inviting, elevated experience above the bustling city.

Aesthetic considerations are paired with pragmatic solutions. “The tower is clad in an aluminum rain-screen and insulated, a pragmatic choice to reduce heat gain and minimize the building’s energy consumption,” SAOTA explains. This ensures sustainability while enhancing guest comfort in the tropical climate.

Photographs provided by SAOTA highlight the interplay of light, texture, and form, capturing the hotel’s striking presence in Abidjan’s cityscape. As Abidjan evolves, the Modern Noom Hotel Abidjan Plateau serves as a marker of its progress—a beacon of modernism reimagined for a new era.
