Nigerian luxury interior designer, Sculpt Design created a maximalist classical living room design for a residential project – Project Hermes. They merged classical aesthetics with bold patterns and textures to create a space that is both visually stunning and deeply luxurious.
In this maximalist classical living room, the atmosphere is one of grand elegance and visual abundance. The room feels curated, showcasing the homeowner’s appreciation for art, history, and intricate craftsmanship. Despite the maximalist approach, there’s a sense of cohesion and sophistication that ties all the diverse elements together.
The colour palette in this maximalist classical living room is rich and varied. A deep burnt orange tone was paired with gold accents to create a sense of regal sophistication. The walls, ceiling, and floor were done in white and cream to serve as a backdrop for the vibrant hues, adding depth to the overall aesthetic.
The living room area is an open-concept space with functions defined by furniture and fixtures. It consists of an entertainment area and a dining area each with pieces and elements that are substantial and ornate. Providing pops of orange, and gold accents, patterns, and the right décor needed to exude the intended refined luxury.
In the entertainment area, Sculpt Design positioned a plush and grand sectional sofa with single orange armchairs upholstered in velvet paired with elaborate side tables. The entertainment wall takes center stage in an intricately crafted wooden tv wall with open shelving on one side and a bar on the other side.
Other forms of seating were provided in this maximalist classical living room as a cozy reading corner and two additional seats on each side of a console setup behind the setting. In addition to this, complementing pieces of furniture like the sofa table, the round center table, and a channel day bed were added.
The dining area is another celebrated space on its own. Separated from the entertainment area by a see-through metal screen, it features a six-seater dining table with grand seats and a black console setup. To add to the character of the maximalist classical living room, Sculpt design centered an elaborate framed wall art done in colors to match the theme.
Just like any maximalist classic design, the designers layered patterns and textures to add a tactile quality to the place and introduce visual richness. To decorate the space, they adopted ornate wall panels and an eclectic collection of artwork to create a sense of architectural grandeur. To round this up, the room is generally adorned with a plethora of accessories ranging from elements like busts, elaborate trims, and hardware on curtains and upholstery to flower vases, tablecloths, and even cutlery.
In Sculpt Design’s Project Hermes, the maximalist classical living room impresses with its fusion of grandeur and artistic flair. The rich color palette, featuring deep burnt orange and regal gold accents, sets the stage for a play of patterns and textures. The open-concept living area, cleverly divided, offers plush seating, intricate wooden features, and a grand dining space. From ornate wall panels to eclectic artwork, every detail adds a touch of opulence.
