The Umbrella Sky project is an initiative of Portugese Creative Agency, Sexta Feira, which features hundreds of colourful umbrellas hung over promenades in the streets of the Agueda municipality of Portugal.
Inspired by popular fictional character Mary Poppins, the idea of the umbrella sky project was first realised in 2011, as a part of the Agitagueda art festival. The installation not only adds a vibrant splash of color to the otherwise plain streets, but also creates a much needed shade from the heat. Today, it has earned international acclaim achieving its goal of adding colour to life. Here are some images of the installation as seen on Bored Panda.
