Australian designer Alison Douglas describes her award winning garden design ‘Pipe Dream’ as “a place to stop, meditate, reflect and breathe.”. Using concrete pipe (a nod to the urban concrete jungles), Alison was able to create an exquisite composition for an outdoor space which bagged her the first prize honours at the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show 2015.
“Pipe Dream” features a meditation moon gate (as it is called)/day bed as well as a reflective water feature and a fire pit all of which make use of varying diameters of concrete pipe. Wood also plays a fairly prominent role in complementing the grey concrete while a colour palette of blue, green and lime green highlights adds a contemporary feel to the garden. Also note worthy, are the plants chosen for the garden. They help to create an “all-season garden” that is able to hold its colour, shape and texture all year round. [via contemporist]
