Boldly stepping out of the ordinary, Def Hills, a Nigerian interior design studio, created an olive green living room featuring a vibrant and eclectic mix of colors, patterns, and textures. Unlike brighter walls, the olive green walls created an enigmatic but calming feel to the fabric of the design.
Boho-Chic interiors are known for their rich and diverse color schemes. In this case, the designer chose a rich olive green to serve as a canvas for the vibrant hues to pop. They infused the space with a mix of vibrant orange, earthy beige, and brown tones to ground the space and add warmth.
The olive green living room can also be described as minimal and modern. Def Hills introduced only one dominant pop of colour and does not have the series of layered textures that a traditional boho-chic interior would have. They introduced textures only sparingly through the area rug and the crochet blanket on the curved chaise sofa.
The designer’s choice of furniture reflects how modern and simple they intended the space to be. Considerations were made for both functionality and style. The twin accent chairs are a major style infusion in the space. Many thanks to their vibrant colour, buoyant style, and fun curves. The curved sectional in a contrasting light-coloured fabric is very modern and sleek.
Also, the seamless way the TV was embedded into the media wall was an interesting way to make the TV wall minimalist, while being different – that is, without the usual storage unit that most TV walls have. Fun fact, the recessed TV wall maximizes the space – allowing the accent chairs more space to express themselves.
The furniture layout in this olive green living room albeit minimal, completely aligns with the design characteristics of a boho-chic interior script. They are low-slung and comfortable to invite relaxation, as well as in a way that encourages conversation, creating an intimate and laid-back vibe.
This cozy ambiance in this olive green living room was enhanced with a combination of ambient and task lighting. Def Hills Introduced boho-style chandeliers as centerpieces and combined recessed ceiling lights and semi-flush focus lights to evenly light up the spaces and provide task lighting. This would encourage occupants to appreciate decor details such as the bold painting on the wall.
Def Hills Interiors embraced the free-spirited nature of the boho-chic interior style in this olive green living room and still kept it modern, clean and timeless. With vibrant and contrasting colors, diverse textures, and a bold backdrop, this living room became a space for relaxation and inspiration.
