Lagos-based interior design firm, Interior Culture by Obiageli, created a nordic interior design for an Airbnb apartment. Its emphasis on simplicity, functionality, and creating a cozy, inviting atmosphere has made it a popular choice for homeowners and, interestingly, even for Airbnb apartments.
The first thing that catches your eye as you step into this Airbnb apartment is the calming color palette. The Nordic interior design was done in various shades of green, grey, white, cream, black, brown, wood, leather, and gold have been carefully selected to create a calming vibe.
One of the hallmarks of Nordic design is consistency. While each space within the apartment has its unique character, the elements of color, texture, and style tie them all together seamlessly. This consistency helps create a sense of flow and unity throughout the entire apartment.
The open living area of the Airbnb apartment is divided into an entertainment area and a dining area, a common feature in many Nordic interiors. The large scenic door is framed by grey full-length curtains and white blinds, allowing an abundance of natural light to flood the space.
The entertainment area boasts a brown leather tuxedo sofa and an olive green nordic single sofa. The center table, also in olive green, rests on a plush beige velvet area rug, providing the area with definition. To further enhance the nordic interior design theme, a modern Scandi-style accent armchair sits by the door. The TV wall, produced in light grey and brown-grained wood, seamlessly blends with the rest of the space.
The dining area was thoughtfully designed to serve the purpose of this hospitality project. In a unique twist, the dining seating is booth-style, featuring a long grey sofa bench and three checkered single-cushioned seats with gold frames. These seats encircle an oval cream dining table, offering a perfect spot for guests in the Airbnb apartment to enjoy a meal in style.
The bedrooms have an atmosphere of hygge, the Scandinavian concept of coziness and contentment. The upholstered bed frames and minimal bedside caddies contribute to the inviting atmosphere of this nordic interior design. The color scheme for the bedrooms is predominantly black, green, white, and gold, providing a perfect blend of elegance and comfort.
One unique way the designer expressed their Nordic intentions is through the wall lights, which are clean and functional in style, enhancing the overall aesthetic of the Airbnb apartment.
A full-length mirror in the living area serves both a functional and aesthetic purpose. Its presence not only adds an element of practicality by allowing occupants to check their appearance before heading out, but it also enhances the spatial dynamics of the room. Placed strategically, the mirror can reflect natural light, making the living area feel more spacious and bright.
