The Rubik by dhk architects is a proposed high rise development in South Africa inspired by the Rubik’s Cube

The Rubik is a contemporary 27-storey mixed-use tower modelled after a Rubik’s cube which is planned for a prominent site in Cape Town’s CBD.

Designed by SA-based dhk architects the rubik will be located at the junction of Loop and Riebeek Street. This prime location offers spectacular views the surrounding natural vista and the ocean. The tower will be made up of premium residential apartments above luxury offices and high-end retail space. The apartments, penthouses and offices will feature floor-to-ceiling windows, 24 hour concierge security, state-of-the-art technology, fixtures and finishes, minimalist elements, and lots of clean, open spaces.

The building features a facade of doubled-glazed fenestration, as well as an innovative air-conditioning system that does not make use of water evaporation for cooling, energy-efficient lighting, and water heating systems which are aligned with green-star initiatives.

The project will be developed by Abland – one of South Africa’s leading property developers and marketed by Dogon Group Properties. Construction is planned to commence in June this year and completed by the year 2021. You can find out more about the project here.

“The beautiful and modern Rubik has a distinctly international feel that conforms to global trends and influences. This exciting building, which will stand as a design beacon in Cape Town’s CBD, will allow occupants to live and work in a distinctive space within the bustling center of one of the world’s most beautiful cities. Loop Street is vibrant and cosmopolitan, known for its night life, historic buildings, art galleries, antique shops, restaurants, bars and cafés,”
