[dropcap size=big]B[/dropcap]oogertman + Partners has been ranked 96th in UK architecture journal Building Design’s annual survey of the world’s biggest architecture firms, the BD 2018 World Architecture 100 (WA100). That makes it the number one (and only) architecture firm in Africa on the list. This position also marks a jump of nine places up from last year, when Boogertman + Partners was also rated among the publication’s “ones to watch” list, which reflects the firm’s recent success.

Bob van Bebber, director at Boogertman + Partners, says,

“This ranking indicates a trend of positive growth and development at Boogertman + Partners, and also indicates increasing opportunities in Africa and the Middle East, where Boogertman + Partners operates.”

The BD 2018 World Architecture 100 is published in January each year and stands as the definitive and most respected annual survey of the world’s largest practices. The listing ranks firms according to the number of fee-earning architects they employ, and includes annual earnings. It serves as a valuable source of insight into architectural growth trends and opportunities.

Boogertman + Partners employs 96 registered architects among a staff of 260 and has been the top-ranked South African architecture firm on the list for 2 years in a row.

Van Bebber adds that the firm’s ranking on the WA100 indicates confidence in the industry and opportunities for growth. Boogertman + Partners’ emphasis on projects throughout Africa and its ongoing quest for design excellence have contributed to this prestigious ranking. The firm’s diverse portfolio of projects and wide range of talent and expertise among its employees places it in a good position for future growth.

2017 was a stand-out year for Boogertman + Partners, marking the completion of several landmark projects, including the 110,000m² Discovery Place, the new Werksmans head-office in Sandton, and the Menlyn on Maine precinct in Pretoria. These projects indicate the firm’s ongoing positive performance. These successes also fuel opportunities for Boogertman + Partners to continue its tradition of nurturing talent and supporting transformation in the architectural field through sponsorships and scholarship programmes.

Van Bebber adds, “This ranking is a tribute to the talent and hard work of the teams in all the offices at Boogertman + Partners, where we place huge emphasis on our collaborative approach, and on the importance of understanding architecture not merely as building, but also as part of a a geographical, social, economic, cultural and aesthetic context. Our new position on the WA ‘Big List’ encourages us as we strive to improve people’s wellbeing through our built environment.”
