57 YEARS, 57 DAYS: CELEBRATING THE 57TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE NIGERIAN INSTITUTE OF ARCHITECTS

#57years#57days is a media campaign recently launched by a team OF well meaning Nigerian Architects to celebrate the 57th anniversary of the Nigerian Institute of Architects. The campaign features a series of posters shared regularly on social media, which highlights the achievements and impact of the institute over its 57 years of existence.

The initiative is a timely one as it helps shine a good light on the work of not just the institute but the profession as a whole within the Nigerian built environment. This creates a much needed positive narrative in contrast to the negative one fueled by the current tension between the Nigerian Insititute of Architects and the Architects registration council. This excerpt from the first poster in the series, depicts a strong desire to unify the profession despite the aforementioned tension,

Our collective aspirations as Nigerian Architects transcend the physical structures we have built as an institute. It represents our relationship as classmates, as friends, as colleagues and partners. It even reaches for many of us now, into the second and third generation of our lives –  our children and grand children.

Collectively, hand in hand, young and old, while applying these ideals and values, let us celebrate these 57 years –  a lifetime of achievements, looking forward to the years of accomplishing much more than this.
