Job Description

Gaton Africa Limited is a company created in 2013 and formed by a group of highly qualified local and expatriate professionals with proven experience in the construction industry. Over the years the company has been involved in both residential and commercial development including apartments, townhouses, villas, industrial buildings, and high rise buildings. We are looking for an experienced Construction Project Manager to plan and supervise a wide range of construction projects to the entire life cycle.

Job Brief

  • The candidate should be able to organize and oversee 3 to 5 projects on construction procedures and ensure they are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • An excellent Construction Project Manager must be well‐versed in all construction methodologies and procedures and able to coordinate a team of professionals of different disciplines to achieve the best results.
  • The ideal candidate must have an analytical mind and great organizational skills.
  • The goal will be to ensure all projects are delivered on time according to requirements and without exceeding the budget.

Responsibilities

  • Providing advice on the management of projects.
  • Organizing the various professional people working on projects.
  • Carrying out risk assessment on each project.
  • Making sure that all the aims of projects are met.
  • Making sure the quality standards are met on each project according to the standard of the company.
  • Representing the client’s or organisation’s interests.
  • Keeping track of people working on the projects and work progress.
  • Monitoring sub‐contractors to ensure guidelines are maintained.
  • Overseeing the accounting, costing and billing, together with the company’s quantity surveyor.
  • Reporting to the directors on progress of work.

  • To oversee all the technical aspect of the company operations.
  • Overseeing site daily running activities.
  • Assigning work to the site engineers and the technical expatriates.
  • Ensuring all projects are delivered to time, quality and agreed cost.
  • Putting up the process and requisition in a timely manner.
  • Sending preparation of weekly reports to the directors.
  • Supporting the directors to achieve the organizational goals.
  • Relating with clients and client consultant in a professional manner.

Requirements

  • Should have more than 5 years’ experience as a construction project manager.
  • In‐depth understanding of construction procedures and materials and project management principles.
  • Familiarity with quality and health and safety standards.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office/ AutoCAD.
  • Familiarity with construction/ project management software.
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time‐management skills.
  • A team player with leadership abilities.
  • BSc/BA in engineering, building science or relevant field.
  • PMP or equivalent certification will be an advantage.
