9H Design Talk by Caauie Lifestyle – Stephen Ajadi speaking

[dropcap size=big]C[/dropcap]aauie lifestyle’s  9H Design Talk for the month of July will be taking place today, Thursday 26th July 2018 by 6:00pm at the usual venue, The Atrium, fourteen 36 mall, 1436 Sanusi Fafunwa str, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria. Speaking at the event on the topic of “Syzygy and Connections”, is Stephen Ajadi, an architectural theorist and researcher.

Mr. Ajadi is a champion of the circular economy and passionate about design education in Nigeria, which led him to establish the African Collaborative Institute of Design for which he serves as founder and research director.

He is also a practicing architect that forges his own path. In projects like Lady Marina,(see our feature on the project here) a twisting tower with organic forms, he at once challenges convention, drags theory to the forefront but still manages to touch on pertinent/pragmatic issues. His design for a home in Ogbomoso takes off from narratives that quote Yoruba contextual inspiration.

Lately, he has been working on IDP camps in Nigeria’s north, fulfilling his compassionate desires toward his fellow man, but also putting to use his studies on urban issues.

Stephen chose the word ‘Syzygy’ for his talk, and we must be aware that the word not only refers to ‘smooth’ connections, but also disruptive or oppositional connections.
