Caauie lifestyle’s 9H Design Talk for the month of July will be taking place on Thursday 27 July 2017 at The Atrium, fourteen 36 mall, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria. Speaking at the event on the topic of “Twisting Bodies and Spaces”, is Seun Oduwole, the principal of Lagos- based architecture firm, SI.SA.
Here’s a synopsis of the event via Caauie Lifestyle,
As Lagos marches towards a greater acceptance of Modernist-Revival architecture, there is a proliferation of the ‘style’ of it, and not the substance.
Architecture firm SI.SA practice a more responsible and intellectually inspired Modernism. Seun Oduwole, the son of an architect is one who has a great desire to raise the bar for architecture here, but better still, a desire to impart knowledge to others. He is one-third of African Alliance for New Design (AAND).
His buildings have daring forms: cantilevered, twisted and seemingly gravity-defying. It is for this reason that we set him the theme ‘Twisting Bodies & Spaces’. His work is positioned within the rising band of ‘Nigerian Modernism’, creating layered buildings that mimick abstract place making.
