Boulon Blanc Reinvents The Transformable Table

Paris-Based Home Furnishings Brand, Boulon Blanc recently launched their inaugural line of products, the centerpiece of which is their transformable coffee/dining table.

Funded through a successful Kickstarter campaign, the transformable table is the result of over two years of research and development, churning out 22 different prototypes before realising the final design. The table which comprises over 300 customised parts, features Boulon Blanc’s own patented, synchronized transformation system. This system works with high precision ball bearings to ensure smooth movement with no disruptive gaps.

The table itself seats up to five and is light enough for one person to complete the transformation. It is completely designed, manufactured and assembled in France, making use of sustainably sourced solid oak and poplar as well as high-quality steel.

“We challenged ourselves to create a table unlike any other, both technical and timeless,…Transformable tables are extremely well suited for our modern lifestyle, but for the past 60 years they have used the same, inefficient X-shaped mechanism. We set out to completely revolutionize the way a table can transform.”

Designer and Boulon Blanc co-founder, Karim Fargeau.

The line also includes a stackable stool that mimics the lines of the table and features oak legs crossing the seat. Both the table and the stool are available with black or white lacquered tops.

Here’s a video showcasing the products.
